Kingston Hospital Fire Service Upgrade

Fusco Constructions was contracted to construct a new 2000m3 tank. The new tank stood at 10m in height and 16m in diameter. The task meant strict adherence to SA Water guidelines whilst complying with the Standards TS1b, TG106, and most importantly TS68 – the technical standard for reinforced concrete construction for liquid retaining structures – which specifies a maximum discharge time of 1.5 hours from the loading of concrete on the truck.

With the nearest concrete plant 40 minutes away in Clare, the flawless execution of the concrete pour was of utmost importance to maintain uninterrupted operation of the existing tank, which supplied the entire town and stood just 10m away. The towering new tank effectively resolved the town’s issues of low water pressure, delivering significantly higher pressure while ensuring uninterrupted operations and a plentiful, reliable water supply.
